Haitian migrants apprehended in Nassau

January 26, 2010

First group of Haitians arriving in Nassau after the earthquake have been apprehended by Immigration and reportedly detained. How will the government respond? The Prime Minister has said new migrants would be detained and taken to the courts so they can be held for a longer period of time – because all repatriation to Haiti is on hold.

What do you think should happen? How should we respond? This is just one of the reasons we started the letter writing campaign. The time is now to send in our letters and tell the government of the Bahamas what we think. The time is now to support our Haitian brothers and sisters who seek refuge from the devastation in Haiti.
